Hyundai cars including Santro, i10 and Accent in their CNG variants fitted with Korean technology were launched in the city Vijayawada at a function attended by representatives of the Korean company on Monday. The CNG cars are being promoted in view of their eco-friendly and economical features.
Kim, managing director of Hyundai CNG division, said that CNG had established itself as a good fuel alternative and that Hyundai would increase the attractiveness of their car models to promote CNG variants. He said that their CNG kits were being made with the feature of gas injection system which would provide a lot of benefits to the car owners in terms of safety and fuel consumption.
Mr. Kim said that their CNG kits were not like those available in the open market and their kits would meet the current Euro 4 norms besides having the quality of meeting even Euro 5 norms. The mileage would be good and there would be better pick-up. There would be no problem of back firing in peculiar situations as the kits were fitted with utmost safety norms, he added.
Hyundai South 2 regional manager V. Ramachandran, Kusalava Hyundai managing director Ch.R.K. Prasad, Sai Swarna Hyundai chairman Stalin Babu and others were present on the occasion.
Mr. Ramachandran said that the potential customers of Santro, i10 and Accent could now utilise the option of buying more economical and environment friendly cars. He said that the new CNG variants would come with retro fitment with advanced kits and also with advanced systems to meet latest emission norms set at the international level. He said that these kits were very safe as Hyundai had an arrangement with leading fitment specialist NGVI of South Korea to retro fit the kits on CNG variants.
The buyers will have to pay additionally for CNG kits and the price of the kit for Santro is Rs. 58,110. The price is Rs. 59,149 for i10 and Rs. 60,187 for Accent. The representatives said that the fuel cost on CNG variant would be just Rs. 1.03 per km while it is Rs. 3.263 per km on petrol version.
